Cider, Wine, Spirits, and Beer From BC's Own Vineyards and Family Farms

We can’t think of a better way to spend time during these lazy, hazy days of summer than to visit one of the 15 wineries, a craft brewery, a distillery or a cidery that make up part of the Circle Farm Tour. There are eight wineries on the CFT in Langley, as well as a craft distillery and a cidery. There’s one winery on the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows tour, six in Abbotsford and the Chilliwack tour has a craft brewery. In Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows area you’ll find the Blue Heron Fruit Winery which is family owned and open every day during the summer from 10am to 6pm. From there it’s just a short trip over the Golden Ears bridge to Langley where you find your choice of 8 wineries, a distillery and a cidery.
The Fort Wine Company specializes in cranberry, blueberry and other fruit wines and also has a line of delicious dessert wines. They’re located in the Glen Valley area of Fort Langley and open from 1 to 5pm every day and they even have a small bistro where you can enjoy a cheese platter with your wine or sangria.
Not far from there you’ll find Roots & Wings craft distillery who are the first and only craft distillery in Langley and provide artisan spirits, homegrown and handcrafted on their own farm. They’re open Friday thru Sunday from noon to 6pm so stop by and say hello soon.
Festina Lente Estate Winery make honey wines and is a labour of love for three generations of the Townsley family. Their tasting room is open from 11am to 6pm daily and you can learn all about what it takes to make these unique wines.
Krause Berry Farm and Estate Winery won Best Fruit Wine of 2017 at the Canadian Wine Championship which is pretty impressive considering they are only 3 years old! The winery is open 7 days a week from l0am to 5:30pm and Friday night the Estate Winery Restaurant is open until 9pm. You’ll want to spend extra time here because they have a lot to offer besides the winery with a market that carries wonderful baked goods, berries of every kind and lots more.
The Campbell Valley Wine Route consists of 5 vineyards in the the Campbell Valley area of Langley. Backyard Vineyards have won all kinds of awards for their delicious wines and you’ll want to check the Events page on their website as they often have great things going on. Their tasting room is open seven days a week from 11am to 5pm and you can also enjoy sweet and savoury plates with your wine.
The Glass House Estate Winery is a family run winery producing carefully crafted artisan wines. They’re open Monday to Thursday by appointment only, Friday and Saturday, noon to 7pm and Sunday noon to 5pm.
Not far from there is Vista D’oro Farms & Winery where they grow heritage orchard fruits and vinifera grapes. Their flagship wine is the 2008 D’oro which is a wonderful fortified walnut wine and The Preservatory at Vista D’oro has created a seasonal line of Artisanal Preserves. It’s definitely worth a visit and they’re open Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
Nearby you’ll find one of Langley’s oldest wineries, Chaberton Estate Winery Chaberton is also home to a wonderful restaurant, Bacchus Bistro, so you might want to make a reservation to have dinner after your wine tasting. The Tasting Room is open Monday to Wednesday, 10am to 6pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. Bacchus is open for lunch on Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30am to 3pm and for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 9pm.
The final Langley winery on the Circle Farm Tour is Township 7 who have been here since 2001. They’re another winery whose Events page is worth checking out because they always have a lot going on, especially over the summer months. Their wines have been winning awards all over the world for many years so stop by their tasting room which is open daily from 10am to 7pm.
If you want a nice change of pace from wine while you can venture to Fraser Valley Cider Company for delicious, handcrafted, small batch ciders. They’re a newcomer to the Langley area, having opened their cidery in May of 2016. The tasting room at the cidery is open Friday and Saturday from 11am to 9pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. Again, you’ll want to check out their Events page because they have special events happening all the time.
Moving from Langley to the Abbotsford Circle Farm Tour, we have a total of 6 wineries to visit starting with Seaside Pearl Farmgate Winery which is a small estate winery and is a newcomer to the Circle Farm Tour this year. Visit their elegant chapel tasting room Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 6pm. Not far from there you’ll find Mt Lehman Winery, who have been around for many years and have many award winning wines that you should stop by to taste. They’re open Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 5pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:30am to 5:30pm and Sunday from noon to 5pm.
Singletree Winery is owned and operated by the Etsell family and is located on 14 acres of estate vineyards. They’re open noon to 5:30 daily so stop by soon and enjoy their beautiful tasting room. Once you finish there you can stop in at Maan Farms and Estate Winery where you’ll need time to enjoy the farm but also spend some time in the tasting room of the winery. Their delicious award winning fruit wines are unique and they’re open from 9am to 6pm daily.
Campbell’s Gold is all about honey wines and mead and you can pick up delicious honey while you’re at their store too. There have different meads to try and also Melomel which is a combination of mead and fruit or berries. They’re open Tuesday to Friday from noon to 6pm, Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from noon to 5pm.
Ripples Winery in Abbotsford is located among the beautiful gardens of Woodbridge Pond. Paul & Caroline Mostertman and their family have created unique products with their own blueberries and other produce, grown on their farm. They officially opened the winery in May of this year and opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 9:30am to 5pm.
All of the wineries are rich in education and many of them have wine clubs, where members often receive special pricing or even tastings of wines not offered to anyone else.
The final spot we’re going to tell you about is located in the Chilliwack Circle Farm Tour. Old Yale Brewing Co. started producing their award winning, handcrafted beer in 1999. They’ve grown over time and moved into a new location last year that allows them to provide a place for people to not only pick up their beer, but sit and enjoy a few with friends. Old Yale is known for their tongue-in-cheek beer names and their team is always trying something new. The tasting room is open Sunday to Wednesday from 11am to 7pm and Thursday to Saturday from noon to 9pm.
