Step into Spring the Local Way

Apr 27, 2018

After a long winter, spring has finally arrived and summer won’t be far behind. Fields of tulips are blooming in the Fraser Valley at both Tulips of the Valley and Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival, but the season is short so make sure you get out and experience this incredible sight for winter weary eyes.

Exploring local markets, farms, and wineries are perfect ways to watch the seasons change and celebrate our delicious local produce, lovingly grown on family-run Circle Farm Tour farms. You might not be able to visit every stop on the self-guided tour in one summer, but many of the stops are open year round and the changing of the seasons brings something new to every

If the kids are feeling a little cooped up from this long winter, climb in the car and head to the Ecodairy, The Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery or Maan Farms in Abbotsford to give them a chance to run around and learn something new. A tour of Eagle Acres Dairy gives you a behind the scenes tour of a family-run dairy farm and every kid (young and young at heart) will love the waffles, whipped cream and berries from Krause Berry Farms, both located in Langley.

The whole family will love exploring the markets, shops, restaurants, cheese crafters, honey producers, berry farms, nurseries, and historic sites that make up the Circle Farm Tour. Explore a real Pioneer Village in Chilliwack or head out on a horseback trail ride at Leghorn Ranch in Pitt Meadows.

The Circle Farm Tour is a self-guided journey of five areas throughout the Fraser Valley and beyond. Each location has it's own guide and map on the website and in print for Maple Ridge / Pitt Meadows, Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Agassiz / Harrison Mills. Check out some of our previous blog postings under the Farm Feed to learn even more about all the wonderful places to explore here in beautiful British Columbia.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, check the Circle Farm Tour Website and calendar for local events and ideas, or make a reservation at some of our favourite restaurants on the tour. There’s Restaurant 62, Brambles Bistro, Kingfishers Waterfront Bar and Grill, Big Feast Bistro, Bacchus Bistro at Chaberton Estate Winery, Milsean Shoppe or maybe have a traditional roast beef dinner at Kilby Historic Site, after spending the day touring this great historic site.
